Bionic got off to a flying start in 2008 by delivering their first project for Chapman Entertainment with the successful launch of "Pit Stop Panic" a game created to enhance the existing Roary web site.
Chapman approached Bionic in late December and asked us to look into creating a new game for the existing Roary site. Bionic decided that a game focusing on one integral location of many of the shows storylines would be the most appropriate way to develop a new game. Bionic therefore suggested the Pit Stop as the location and Chapman agreed.
With the show featuring a ground breaking blend of stop frame animation and cutting edge CGI, Bionic wanted to ensure the game reflected the pace and action of the show on the web. From here it was agreed that the creative direction of the game would feature a mix of the high octane racing footage lifted from the show which would be cut into fresh, original creative put together by Bionic.
Whilst the creative was being put together Bionic worked in tandem with Chapman to collect audio footage of Peter Kay (who plays Big Chris in the show) which, combined with imagery of his character was dropped into the game. Big Chris would act as a visual guide in the game to advise players on what parts of Roary were in need of repair as well as encouraging children with comic phrases delivered in Peter Kay's trademark style.
The show appeals to a target audience of 2 to 6 year olds and with this in mind Bionic added two methods of gameplay style to ensure the younger end of the audience could enjoy the game as much as the older age group.
The final results were a fast paced, age appropriate game delivering a sticky and competitive activity for children of all ages. Chapman were delighted with the game and Bionic are now looking forward to working on a number of other projects with them throughout 2008 - more news soon!

When Rare Communications required a new corporate identity and website they wanted an agency who not only ticked the creative and technical ability boxes but also had a good understanding of their business and that of the industries in which they operate.
Chapman approached their digital partners Bionic Communications to assess each site and familiarise themselves with a already established Content Management System which the new sites would need to work across.
